In this video I wanted to share with you how Latinos celebrate Christmas, specfically how Puerto Ricans celebrate Christmas. How Latinos celebrate Christmas varies widely from country to country. In this video, I will share with you one of Puerto Rican's popular traditions during Christmas: a Puerto Rican Parranda. A parranda is when a group of friends and family members gather together with musical instruments and stand outside someone's house and serenade them until they open the door. Once the host greets them, s/he invites them into their home and serves them food. They will sing a couple of songs and then take the host with them to another house to begin the same process. This will happen several times throughout the night as the group gets larger. There are many styles of Puerto Rican music. Some of them are jíbaro style music as well as bomba & plena. Bomba and plena is used to accompany a series of jokes that are told (must rhyme) and then once the person has shared the joke, a chorus is sung. My father knows a lot of "bomba" jokes and I always think of him whenever we are in gatherings where bomba jokes are shared. Please subscribe for weekly teaching tips for how to meet the needs of English language learners in your classroom here:https://www.youtube.com/user/GreatOffers8000Güiro ...instrument with a serrated surface that gives a rasping sound when scraped with a stick, originally made from a gourd-like fruit of the higüero tree (Crescentia cujete) that is native to the region.EL Jolgorio Está LyricsEl jolgorio está, el jolgorioestá, bien por la macetaVamos a gozar, ja, ja, wepa, wepa, wepaVamos a gozar, ja, ja, wepa, wepa, wepaEl jolgorio está, el jolgorioestá, bien por la macetaVamos a gozar, ja, ja, wepa, wepa, wepaVamos a gozar, ja, ja, wepa, wepa, wepaQue traigan pitorro, que traigan pitorroHasta que amanezcaY el jolgorio está, ja,ja, bien por la macetaVamos a gozar, ja, ja, wepa, wepa, wepaEl jolgorio está, el jolgorioestá, bien por la macetaVamos a gozar, ja, ja, wepa, wepa, wepaVamos a gozar, ja, ja, wepa, wepa, wepa__________________________________________Mi Burrito SabaneroCon mi burrito sabanero, voy camino de BelénCon mi burrito sabanero, voy camino de BelénSi me ven, si me ven, voy camino de BelénSi me ven, si me ven, voy camino de BelénEl lucerito mañanero ilumina mi senderoEl lucerito mañanero ilumina mi senderoSi me ven, si me ven, voy camino de BelénSi me ven, si me ven, voy camino de BelénCon mi cuatrico, voy cantando, mi burrito va trotandoCon mi cuatrico voy cantando, mi burrito va trotandoSi me ven, si me ven, voy camino de BelénSi me ven, si me ven, voy camino de BelénTuki tuki tuki tuki, tuki tuki tuki taApurate, mi burrito, que ya vamos a llegarTuki tuki tuki tuki, tuki tuki tuki tuApurate, mi burrito, vamos a ver a JesúsItem Title: ChristmasItem URL: https://elements.envato.com/christmas-QKE6JPFItem ID: QKE6JPFAuthor Username: MorningLightMusicItem License Code: 8AMPU3RQNEProducts I Highly Recommend for your ELLs:Games:Phrase It Card Game for ELLs:https://amzn.to/38p9wVWSentence Building Game for ELLshttps://amzn.to/2YBVdcaConversation Cubes:https://amzn.to/2YC4zEzName that Wordhttps://amzn.to/2LECuHAName that Person, Place or Thing!https://amzn.to/2Pyb3jGPrefix, Suffix, Baseword Gamehttps://amzn.to/2PuRN6QSentence Games:https://amzn.to/36kpoahBooks/Teaching Resources:No Prep/Little Prep Speaking Activities:https://amzn.to/2REvqhRFun Mini Books:https://amzn.to/38mc8DZAwesome ESL Activities:https://amzn.to/354VvuhFlip Guide to Differentiating Literacyhttps://amzn.to/342DgocWord Order in English Sentenceshttps://amzn.to/2LDAdwh180 Educational Games and Activities for ELLShttps://amzn.to/2YxD7rtDISCLAIMER: Links included in this description might be affiliate links.
